White Paper on Curriculum and Assessment

Message from Welsh Government

The white paper is now available

The new Curriculum & Assessment White Paper is now published for an eight week public consultation. It will close on 25 March. The White Paper – Our national mission: a transformational curriculum – proposals for a new legislative framework is a consultation on the legal foundations for the new curriculum. The White Paper will not provide details on the curriculum or content. The first version of the new curriculum, supported by guidance, will be published in April 2019 for feedback and refinement.

The new curriculum will start to roll out nationally from September 2022 starting with primary schools and year 7.

How to engage in the consultation
Thanks for your continued engagement – we want to ensure that you get the opportunity to understand and respond to the proposals.

A youth friendly version and an easy read version of the White Paper will also be made available. To support the changes we will be launching a microsite on the Welsh Government website – Education is Changing. This is aimed at the public providing information about what’s changing and will be updated as plans progress.

You can respond via the consultation on the website or via email.

If you have any queries or would like more information, please email CurriculumReformLegislation@gov.wales
