Summary
The FGA normally meets once per school term. All schools within the local authority are entitled to have representatives at these meetings. The AGM is held during the Autumn Term with all attending schools having a vote on election of officers (chair and vice-chair) and governor representatives on the local authorities Budget Forum.

At the termly meeting, standing items on the agenda include:

  1. updates from Governors Wales;
  2. reports from governors attending the Budget Forum and Scrutiny Committee;
  3. feedback from the chair and vice-chair on their termly meetings with the Director of Children’s Services;
  4. open discussion on issues that should be raised with the local authority; and
  5. suggestions for future activities and training courses.

In addition the FGA always tries to have guest speakers who address current matters of interest – these are often officers of the local authority. The Director Lifelong Learning is a frequent contributor to these meetings.

All meetings of the Flintshire Governors Association are advertised in the Flintshire School Governor Development Programme.
